Maybe tomorrow, I’ll try to do better; but today I’m too busy

We all have a certain pace in life that feels “in flow”. That place where you have achieved a balanced state between chaos and order, support and challenge and you are able to regulate your stress levels effectively.

Finding that delicate balance between work, rest and play enables you to feel your best physically and emotionally.

However, all too many times, as life gets more and more demanding and chaotic, it sets the stage for you to lose that delicate balance and flow to your life.

A common strategy for some is to try and work harder, faster and even take on more. You may resort to an Increase of your caffeine and sugar intake to force more energy into yourself in order to be able to keep up with the pace of life. You may reach for escape mechanisms to try and alleviate the pain through drugs or alcohol to help temporarily ease the feeling of stress and anxiety.

These strategies are a recipe for disaster and will inevitably lead to burnout and a crash of your system.

I would like to share a couple of strategies to help you to maintain balance and flow even in your busy world.

First, it’s important to be able to recognize the warning signs of imbalance.

You may experience feedback signs of feeling frustration, irritability, anxiety and stress. You may also recognize physical symptoms of pain, stiffness, fatigue, insomnia or headaches. Use these warning signs as indicators that it’s time to hit the pause button, step back, take a breath and give your body and mind what it needs to rebalance and recharge. Perhaps it’s taking a nap, going for a jog, doing yoga, meditating, taking a nice hot bath, going shopping, dancing, having sex, hiking, etc… The key is to find your own unique combination of things that work and make sure to include them into your daily life. Even a 5-minute break to recharge can make a huge difference.

Second, It may be time to dump and delegate certain tasks.

Check in to see how many unloved actions you are performing throughout your day. These are the “Have to’s” and Got to’s” of your life. The more unloved tasks you perform in your life the more you increase the chances of overwhelm and burnout.

Whenever possible, delegate as many unloved actions to someone else and focus on high priority, inspiring actions as much as you can. These are the “Love to’s” and Choose to’s” of your life.

The more you can focus your energy of these actions, the more you will notice increased energy, less fatigue and a feeling of inspiration when you are doing what you love. You will find yourself having more energy at the end of your days and you will begin to rest better at night.

Lastly, if you find yourself stuck in a rut, feel you have tried everything but are still feeling anxiety, stress and overwhelm, it may be time to get some help.

Know that there is always a solution to whatever problem you are facing, you just may need a bit of assistance to help get you through the tougher times. This is where I come in to help. I'd like to assist in finding a solution for you to recharge, rebalance and learn some tools to maintain a flow to your life.

If you like the sound of this, and thinking you'd like to work with someone to facilitate you as you navigate your path, let's set up a synergy call and explore if one of my adventures is ideal for you just now.

Hugs,

Dr. Dave
